The question of a timeline came up at the West Lafayette City council meeting on Monday. City Council President Peter Bunder asked Mayor John Dennis about the future of the city’s mask mandate on Monday. “I’m almost afraid to ask,” Bunder said. “But can you say anything about masks?” “My intention is to hold the mask ordinance at least for another month and then see how things go,” Mayor Dennis replied. City Councilmember Nick DeBoer said it would be worth considering what kind of numbers the city wants to see before it removes the ordinance. “Some hard numbers in place we can communicate with the public so we can say look the end is in sight, this is what we need to achieve to get there, and here’s the gap and it’ll be soon enough,” he said.
