A state election pledge to spend $38.4 million to better equip firefighters in the face of hellish fire seasons brought on by climate change is a burning reminder of the millions evaporating each year in the face of the growing global crisis.
Like running a sprinkler in the height of a summer’s day, better resourcing fire services will be a tireless task made all the more dangerous by the amplified drain on already taxed water sources.
