May 15-22, 2021: Suicide Prevention Training Week WHEREAS, May is known as Mental Health Awareness Month and is intended to help promote awareness surrounding the resources available to us and our communities; and,
WHEREAS, some mental illnesses and life stressors can come with suicidal thoughts and can affect anyone regardless of age, gender, race, orientation, income level, religion, or background; and,
WHEREAS, according to the report released in 2020 by the American Foundation For Suicide Prevention, in Michigan, on average, one person died by suicide every six hours, and suicide is the tenth leading cause of death on average and second leading cause of death for ages 10-34 in Michigan; and,
