Winchester man charged with DWI in crash that hurt 87-year-old woman View Comments WINCHESTER, Ind. — A Winchester man is accused of driving drunk when he caused a May highway crash that seriously injured an 87-year-old woman. Christopher T. Higgins, 30, was charged last week in Randolph Superior Court with causing serious bodily injury when driving while intoxicated, a Level 5 felony carrying up to six years in prison. Witnesses said Higgins' car, traveling northbound on U.S. 27 on May 18, crossed the center line near Randolph County Road 300-S and collided with a southbound SUV driven by the senior citizen.. The 87-year-old woman, from Union City, suffered injuries to her back and right leg, and three broken ribs. She was hospitalized, at Reid Hospital in RIchmond, for eight days.
