Winter storm spurs cancelations, delays in southeast Iowa The Hawk Eye The winter storm system that moved into the Midwest Monday dumped several inches of snow over southeast Iowa before exiting the region Tuesday. The storm brought about three inches of snow to Burlington, while other areas of southeast Iowa saw between two and five inches. The storm initially had been expected to impact southeast Iowa Monday morning, prompting the Burlington School District and Notre Dame Catholic Schools to cancel in-person classes, with Burlington students instead attending classes online. Southeastern Community College closed its buildings at noon in anticipation of the storm, and the West Burlington School District announced shortly after 10 a.m. that it would release students two hours early Monday and move to online classes Tuesday.
