Worcester awaits word on when region will receive Johnson & Johnson vaccine WORCESTER — Worcester's medical director said Tuesday that the city does not yet know when it might receive the Johnson & Johnson vaccine. Dr. Michael P. Hirsh said the state gets about 120,000 vaccination doses a week and some officials believe that the state will get about 200,000 a week by April, which will include Johnson & Johnson doses. Hirsh said the agreement between Johnson & Johnson and fellow pharmaceutical company Merck & Co. announced Tuesday to help manufacture the Johnson & Johnson vaccine will help to increase the supply of vaccine doses available nationwide. As vaccine providers await receiving shipments of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine, they say the introduction of a new COVID-19 vaccine presents new logistical and mobile site opportunities.
