On Wednesday, a trackhoe worked on the southern end of the project near where it will tie into the newest section of a four-lane highway just south of New Delhi. Heavy equipment has been clearing hundreds of trees to make way for the project. Show MoreShow Less 2of3 Work is continuing on construction of an addition of four lanes to U.S. Route 67 in Jersey County called the New Delhi Bypass. The 3-mile section which will connect to the current four lane section from Godfrey north to New Delhi. Workers are constructing a massive box culvert to carry water from a small creek near Trinity Hill Lane under the new construction. The $18.6 million project, part of the Illinois Department of Transportation’s “Rebuild Illinois” infrastructure program, is expected to be completed by late 2022. Additional portions north to Jerseyville are in the states long-term plans. The new construction is running along side the current two lanes of the highway. Show MoreShow Less
