WTXF Good Day Philadelphia At 4A November 23, 2017

How big is that oven . It goes back 24 feet and 18. Thats incrediblement how many turkeys can you fit in there . We realized last year, 140 is all we can fit. So you had so many people last year you actually maxed out . We will to turn two people away. Oh, marne. So people really trust you guys, i mean, usually line around the block before you snow. Think there is a guy here now. Thats earl. I we dont start taking them until 6 00. And they come now, line up along the whole street, outside, and they wait in the cold, if it is 10 degrees, 30 degrees, theyre out there with their turkeys and pajamas. Thats a lot of trust to put in your guys, the centerpiece of your meal, giving it to you guys. You must do awesome job. We do. And we do this all year. Thats the thing i try and say every year. We dont just do this on thanksgiving. You bring any roast, park, turkey, chicken, duck, we will bake anything as long as it is in a pan, we throw it in the brick oven, so much better than your traditional oven. Because i asked, you know, i asked thomas i asked joe, you know, what does it taste like . And what you described it, pretty mouth watering. It sounds like you have to at least try it once, right . So the way this oven works is the heat radiates among the bricks, the dome shape in the oven, and it keeps the moist in the roast. So you put it in your regular oven, you take it out, it is dry, you know, nothing you can do about that, because thats the way it is. But in this oven, it keeps it nice and moist it, makes a nice juice, and you can taste, like, when you make stuff on your grill, you can taste the difference in the brick. So i have a question. That sounds amazing. Only because i want to try it when we get off work here, what time does the turkey go in the oven . First turkey goes in at 7 00 but you have to be here way sooner than that. Yes, i get here usually on average day, i get here 1 00 a. M. But today i came in at 3 00. You open at 6 00 right . Right. What time do people usually start lining up . Now. There is a guy right here. Thomas, bring me your turkey, im practically first in line, maybe second, somebody is already. My bird already went in, the victim is in the oven. Next year. Ill safer that. Lets show it, sabina, well check back in with you in just a minute when we pop that bird in there. So here is the picture i took early this morning, i woke up about 1 00. Behind that smile, my friend, my friends, there is a fear in me. Because i decided this year, thats the reality how i actually felt this morning around 1 00 a. M. I initially put it in the oven at 450. Then changed the temperature down to 220, to slow roast it throughout the night. So the birds is unattended at this hour. Well see how it does throughout the morning. Should be fine. You know, for years, major retail verse been bragging about opening up thanksgiving day all to get you inside for that black friday rush. But, may not be the case this year, lowes among mother than zero seven retailers will close their doors this turkey day giving workers time to spends with their families. And it turns out, most shoppers will stay home anyway. Survey from best black friday. Com shows just 16 of people do their instore shopping, instore shopping on thanksgiving, 58 say stores shouldnt open at all. As for stores that are opening this thanksgiving, Bass Pro Shops opens 8 00 this morning and closes 6 00 p. M. Big lots open from 7 00 a. M. Until 10 00 p. M. And kmart and walmart opening early six a. M. And staying open until midnight. If you dont want to wait to start shopping, the delaware valleys oldest and largest flea market will be open all day, in new jersey, lets get right out there, steve keeley joining us from Columbus Farmers Market along route 206 in burlington county, right, steve . These are the sellers and this place is massive, i cant even show it to you in the dark. Greg will show across here they have the un hang with the wooden tables set up. So what better way to shop and get in the holiday spirit than shopping in the 20 agree temperatures out here in the middle of burlington count. I it is called layers, thats why we have all of these layers on. Why here . Whats the secret of getting this early, why would you come here this early as a seller . As a searle, the reason why you want to come early you can get a better spot. So the earlier you get here, the better spot you get. Whats the key to the spot . Like whats a good spot . Somewhere where all of the people will see you . Right. Basically the corner, corners are the best, or closer to, like, they have like this is more considered more the new err section, but it does have some older antique stuff. But down in the bottom fence, down to your left, they have thats where all of the antique and all of the resell ers are at, where you can find like that vintage product that you are ooh he looking for or maybe antique product or furniture or whatever. Definitely here at the market. Definitely here. And how many people have no idea, like bigger than an eagles football game. Talking like 100,000 people maybe at a certain point during the day . I have no clue. I just know there is a lot of people that come here, a lot of vendors and a lot of people. And usually you cant even walk through inbetween the tables, you cant walk through the aisles because there are so many people on thanksgiving. I mean, it is a great experience to be honest. Now, what are you going to be selling if people want to see you if, first of all, they have to find in you this thing . Im looking at people pulling trailer in here as we talk, what are you selling today . I have a lot of vintage stuff, vintage dishes, and vintage or pre 1980s cookie jars or like if you are looking for pie recommendation, you know, just basically different, just different little nicknacks people may want. Correct, there is new stuff, even people thal have flowers, and then there is people that have looking for brand new pairs of socks, hey, this is the place to come. Because you can get the bargains at. So and i asked earlier, so after youre done selling you think by 3 00 youll get out of here hopefully with a good day, no plans for dinner just plans to sleep then right . Oh, no.
