As we have rain in the forecast, and bus stop buddy has the best advice. If you look out the window and it is not raining in your neighborhood, keep in mind that it will be raining before the end of the day at some point. Temperatures in the fours and 50s, and the rain is spreading into berks and little bit of lancaster county, Lehigh Valley right now, getting closer. But it is still dry here in old city with 53 degrees at the moment. Temperatures will be going down from here. Look up to the north and west, see mid fours, in lancaster, reading, allentown, the places getting the rain, getting the colds front coming through, by the end of the day we will be in the fours, probably 45 by lunchtime. Could see little peak of sunshine, but keep in mind, showers will be with us on and off throughout the day. No more 70s for awhile. Bob kelly. Hope you enjoyed it while it lasted. Karen, thomas, back over to you. Bob, lets get right to. This we did have horrific case that happened right here in our city. Young woman now dead. And police are looking for a gunman who fired shots into a van with some other young women inside and some small children. Lets get right over to Police Headquarters and jenny joyce. Jenny . Reporter good morning, karen, so police did tell us that they found a lot of evidence at the scene. So they were collect that evidence. They were also talking to night on broad street. 30 last that is an area thats typically busy, a lot of activity, so, police now hoping to talk with anyone who saw anything happen last night. The shooting and crash, again, 8 30 at broad and grange streets, in the fernrock section of the city, a van heading northbound on broad caring three women in their 20s, and three children ages two to six years old, crashed into a building after someone fired several gunshot at that van. At least one bullet struck and killed the 23 year old driver, the five other passengers, were taken to einstein medical center, with minor injuries. They do have injuries, not certain how the injuries occurred. If they were hit with glass or as a result of the van crashing into the building. And there was some heavy damage to the van. So, it was pretty hard crash. So, police are looking to find the driver who opened fire, who was that person behind the wheel after dark northbound on broad street . Investigators tell us, there are cameras in the area. They are pulling that Surveillance Video to help put the pieces together, and investigators right now say it is unclear why this woman may have been targeted, or could this have been a road rage incident . Police right now cant say for sure what the motivation here was. Back to you. So they get those answers youll keep us updated i know, jenny, 5 35. Raw emotion as survivors of the Florida Shooting and other gun violence got the rare chance to take message directly to the president. President trump held a listening session, at the white house, with victims from the park land shooting, as well as those who experience columbine and sandy hook. One by one they delivered powerful statement, calling for action. And i was born into a world where i never got to experience safety and peace. Reporter well, last saturday, some guy came in for a cuban roast coffee, sizzly and chrysler 200, and the car was the quickest to grab of the three since the cuban roast, like it, it was all warmed up and suddenly hot. Different hot than coffee hot, hot as in stolen hot. The actual owner left it running saturday while going inside this wawa. He was the third car owner who had his vehicle swiped from the front of the store in eight days. All left running. All owners left idle themselves because they left their cars idle while going inside for coffee. Just dont think it will happen. Like im only going to be gone a second and thats it. But it can happen. Absolutely is. People running into wawa for a few minutes and leaving their car running out in the parking lot, and unfortunately there was people waiting, watching them go in, im assuming, and taking their vehicle from them. Reporter karen, thomas, the common denominate or, all happened in the morning, in fact, the first of those three thefts happened at 5 33 a. M. , right around now, then one in the 6 00 hour, one in the 7 00. So were keeping our eyes out. Were seeing plenty of people who either didnt get the news or just dont care. Because theyre still leaving their cars running when they go inside thinking hey it is so busy no one would dare commit a crime while all of these people are around. The problem is you dont look like a thief when you simply walk into a car and leave. Because people are constantly coming and going out of here anyway. So, it is an easy crime to commit. And easy to get away. Because you already got a head start on the owners probably in line waiting to pay, because it is cents so busy this time of day. Good point, steve. All right, thank you, thats an important warning for us all. 5 38. She is used to asking the question how are you doing . Well, she admits shes not doing so well. Yes, it is. See how were flowing this morning, bob kelly . Things are flowing okay right here. Behind me, on the northeast extension, near allentown, the problem, though, on the overnight, just got update from the turnpike officials, sounds like an electrical conduit. They were calling it a beam. But it sounds like just electrical tube of plastic con conduit fell down in the tunnel, the southbound lanes overnight, which then caused an accident. So they cleared the accident. Theyre trying to make repairs to the electrical conduit. Right now all southbound lanes are closed in the tunnel. The Lehigh Valley tunnel between Mahoning Valley and the Lehigh Valley. That will will throw some extra time in your commute. They hope to have it opened by 6 00, 6 30 or so. So was trenton. Even mount pocono, 70 degrees. Needless to say, spring skiing conditions in the mountains yesterday. So the rain is starting to get a little bit closer. Weve got our cold front making it way through the area right now. It is already very cold in the northern part of the state. But we do not have that stuff in our forecast. Meaning snow. Little heavy downpour. Entering berks county, at the moment. So, have the rain gear with you. Because were all going to get our turn with some rain throughout the morning, throughout the afternoon, on and off, not every single minute, but it looks like pretty rainy day, especially through the evening rush hour. We get little break, whats going to happen now, the cold front stalls just to our south. Then we get some waves of low pressure coming in, giving us some rain every now and again through the weekend. So, weve got tomorrow afternoon with scattered showers, may not be as rainy as today. Saturday could see tiny peak of sunshine at some point. But also a chance of showers, and look what happens saturday night into sunday morning, some very heavy rain headed our way. So, keep that in mind as you make your weekend plans. Checking a few neighborhoods, in quakertown, it is a chilly 42 degrees. But bala cynwyd at 51. We head over into new jersey, woodstown, at 53. Fifty in ewing. Fifty in sea isle city. And in newark, delaware, it is 53 degrees, in see ford close to 60. But those mild temperatures are not going to be hanging around. We will probably bottom out this afternoon at 48 degrees. 47 degrees tomorrow. More seasonable temperatures, chance of showers each day, 55 f showers on saturday. Were up to 63 sunday, but you have to factor in some rain. Everything dries out after another cold front comes through and were in the 50s monday, tuesday and wednesday. So even after we dry out, we still are above average, guys. Looking good. Sue, thank you will, 5 49. Wendy williams taking couple of weeks off from her talk show all because the doctors say you need to take some time off. Such an interesting.
