Mx should be used as a gender-neutral alternative to titles such as Mr and Mrs on forms, a member of Keir Starmer s team has suggested.
Alex Sobel, a shadow Culture, Media and Sport Minister, wants the Government to tell public bodies and private companies to start using Mx on forms and documents.
Mr Sobel has also supported contentious trans-rights reforms including the abolition of single-sex changing rooms, toilets and prisons.

A CROSS-PARTY group of MPs has launched a fresh effort to reform the UK’s “undemocratic” voting laws, with the All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) for Electoral Reform. The group will work towards a more proportional voting system for all elections in the UK, as well as pushing for other reforms to boost democracy at Westminster. Backed by the Electoral Reform Society (ERS) and Make Votes Matter (MVM), the APPG was launched yesterday, backed by MPs and peers to “secure policy change for greater democracy in the voting system and process, to champion accountability and the voice of voters”. LEEDS City Council decision-makers have been urged to reject plans to expand Leeds Bradford Airport, with campaigners claiming the £150m revamp is “fundamentally wrong”. Campaign group GALBA has claimed its letter has received support from MPs, councillors and climate scientists, as a final decision is expected this week on plans to rebuild the terminal and runway to increase capacity for flights. A total of 114 West Yorkshire MPs, councillors, climate scientists and community organisations have signed the open letter calling for Leeds City Council to prevent airport expansion The signatories include four of Leeds’s five Labour MPs, as well as numerous constituency and branch Labour parties. A total of 20 climate academics, most from the University of Leeds, also lent their signatures to the letter.
