N.B. reports eight new COVID-19 cases, one additional death in Bathurst region


Health officials say the individual was in their 90s in the Bathurst region (Zone 6).
“I am saddened to learn that another person has lost their life as a result of COVID-19,” said Dorothy Shephard, New Brunswick s Health Minister. “On behalf of all New Brunswickers, I offer my deepest sympathies to the family and friends of this individual.”
“Each loss experienced in our province due to COVID-19 is tragic, especially for the loved ones of the person who has died,” said Dr. Jennifer Russell, chief medical officer of health. “I ask all New Brunswickers to join me in extending heartfelt condolences to those who are grieving this loss.” ....

The section of Zone 4 that is currently in the Orange level, including Edmundston and the Upper Madawaska region, Saint-Léonard, Grand Falls, Drummond, New Denmark and Four Falls, will move to the Yellow level at midnight tonight under the province s mandatory order.
“I would like to offer my gratitude to the people of the Madawaska region,” said Dr. Jennifer Russell, chief medical officer of health. “Your patience and perseverance have enabled us to slow the spread of the virus and bring this outbreak under control. For the first time since mid-March, all of New Brunswick will be at the Yellow level. If we want to maintain this position, everyone must remain vigilant and follow public health guidance, including those who have been vaccinated.” ....

New Brunswick reports 10 new COVID-19 infections Thursday;118 active cases remain


FREDERICTON
New Brunswick is reporting 10 new cases of COVID-19 on Thursday.
Health officials say the Moncton, Saint John and Fredericton regions each have two new cases, the Edmundston area has three new cases and the Bathurst region has one.
There have been 1,900 confirmed cases in New Brunswick since the pandemic began.
Since Wednesday, 14 people have recovered for a total of 1,745 recoveries. There have been 36 deaths, and the number of active cases is 118. Four patients are hospitalized, including two who are in intensive care. On Wednesday, New Brunswick public health staff conducted 1,443 tests raising the overall total to 288,141.
Education and Early Childhood Development Minister Dominic Cardy says 35 per cent of New Brunswickers have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine. ....

The two cases in Zone 1 (Moncton region) are as follows:
an individual 19 and under; and
an individual 50-59.
The two cases in Zone 2 (Saint John region) are as follows:
an individual 19 and under; and
an individual 60-69.
The two cases in Zone 3 (Fredericton region) are as follows:
an individual 19 and under; and
an individual 40-49.
The three cases in Zone 4 (Edmundston region) are as follows:
two people 30-39; and
All three cases are contacts of previously confirmed cases.
The one case in Zone 6 (Bathurst region) is an individual 60-69 and is travel related.
