COVID-19: Canada Responds: New Brunswick Update on COVID-19 – May 10, 2021

New Brunswick Update on COVID-19 – May 10, 2021
In Fredericton, Dr. Jennifer Russell, New Brunswick’s chief medical officer of health, and Dominic Cardy, New Brunswick’s minister of education and early childhood development, provide an update on the province’s response to the ongoing COVID-19 (coronavirus disease) pandemic. The province is easing restrictions in the Zone 4 region and moving it to the yellow COVID alert level. Starting May 10, vaccine eligibility has expanded to people aged 40 and older. This comes as the bulk of the province has started voting in municipal elections. The Upper Madawaska and Edmunston regions have delayed in-person voting until May 25. (no interpretation)

The section of Zone 4 that is currently in the Orange level, including Edmundston and the Upper Madawaska region, Saint-Léonard, Grand Falls, Drummond, New Denmark and Four Falls, will move to the Yellow level at midnight tonight under the province's mandatory order.
“I would like to offer my gratitude to the people of the Madawaska region,” said Dr. Jennifer Russell, chief medical officer of health. “Your patience and perseverance have enabled us to slow the spread of the virus and bring this outbreak under control. For the first time since mid-March, all of New Brunswick will be at the Yellow level. If we want to maintain this position, everyone must remain vigilant and follow public health guidance, including those who have been vaccinated.”
