Could bees become the next sniffer dogs?
The COVID-19 pandemic has seen scientists try everything they can think of to try and stem the spread of the disease.
The latest idea involves bees.
Following on from researchers for BC Infectious Diseases finding dogs could be used to detect which patients were infected with coronavirus at a success rate of 94 percent, scientists in the Netherlands have tried the same thing with bees.
In controlled tests with 150 bees at the biosafety lab of Wageningen Bioveterinary Research, scientists were able to train the bees to detect positive coronavirus samples collected from minks infected with the disease. ....

A woman s body was stuck in a hearse for four hours after it was removed from her home due to the funeral industry shutdown.
This came after an Avbob Funeral Parlour hearse carrying the body was stopped by protesting members of the Unification Task Team (UTT) that has been leading the shutdown since Monday.

Odisha: BDO carries man's body for cremation | Bhubaneswar News

The block development officer (BDO),Chhendipada, in Angul district carried a man’s body for the last rites after locals refused to do so. The 65-year-old man, Gobinda Majhi, of Bahala Sahi on Friday evening. Though he had not tested positive, he had cough and breathing problems for five days.
As the body lay for more than 16 hours, the BDO Sanjay Kumar Acharya went to the village on Saturday morning and with the help of local sarpanch Narayan Behera and the deceased’s son carried it to the cremation ground and cremated it.
He wore a PPE while carrying the body. ....
