Former ATSU student killed in rural Iowa after mental health crisis

The man shot last Thursday after breaking into a rural Iowa home was a former A.T. Still University student who was suffering from a mental health crisis, according to the Wapello County Sheriff’s Office.
Aaron Thompson, 28, of Brookfield, Wisconsin, broke into a home near Ottumwa and fought with the homeowner before being shot, the Ottumwa Courier reported. Thompson was flown by helicopter to University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, where he died.
Officials said no criminal charges would be filed against the homeowner. ....

LINCOLN, IL – A major new regional economic development organization has been formally launched and has also named a new chief executive officer. 
Lincoln Economic Advancement & Development, Inc. (LEAD) is announcing the hiring of Andrea Runge, an economic development professional with more than 20 years’ experience in community and economic development in Illinois as CEO of the organization. The hiring of Runge coincides with the official launch of the new economic development group aimed at growing opportunities and businesses in Lincoln.
The formal launch of LEAD is the culmination of an effort that began nearly two years ago when Lincoln area business and community leaders began meeting to discuss ways to grow the local economy,retain and create more jobs and opportunities for residents of Lincoln. BROOKFIELD, WI Former Brookfield East High School star athlete Aaron Thompson, 28, died after being shot on Thursday in Wapello County, Iowa, according to law enforcement officials.
Thompson was airlifted to a University of Iowa hospital in Iowa City, Iowa, where he died on Friday.
A homeowner shot Thompson after an altercation inside a house in Wapello County Thursday. No charges are expected against the homeowner, law enforcement officials said.

The incidents surrounding Thompson s death began Thursday after the Brookfield Police Department in Wisconsin conducted a welfare check on him, law enforcement officials said. ....
