GATLINBURG â A Louisville, Kentucky, man is accused of striking two Park Vista employees with his car while trying to flee the facility on Thursday. Bailey Williamson and Tiffany S. Dunn were injured when 21-year-old Javier Gonzalez-Cruz struck them as he fled the hotel at about 10 a.m. Thursday, according to court documents. Dunn was airlifted to UT Medical Center, where she was in stable condition Friday. Williamson was taken to Leconte Medical Center; no update on his condition was available Friday. Gonzalez-Cruz fled the hotel after that incident, but Gatlinburg Police caught up to him minutes later at the intersection of the Parkway and Highway 321, city spokesman Seth Butler said. They arrested him and a female passenger without incident. ....
SEVIERVILLE â Two Sevier County men are now facing second-degree murder charges in relation to an overdose death from May 22, 2020. Forty-two-year-old Joshua Lombardo and 21-year-old Benjamin King, both of Seymour, were charged in indictments handed down earlier this week, when Sevier County convened a grand jury for the first time in months. They were charged in the death of a 33-year-old Seymour woman who died from an overdose after using heroin that had been laced with fentanyl, according to information from the Sevier County Sheriffâs Office. Investigators eventually learned she obtained the drugs from Lombardo and King. The pair were charged with conspiracy to distribute drugs as well as murder. ....

SEVIERVILLE â The Sevier Animal Care Center could be moving closer to its first permanent home Monday, as the Sevier County Commission will vote on committing $2 million to building it. The county purchased land near the fairgrounds on Old Knoxville Highway in 2019 with plans for building a permanent home for the animal care center, as well as housing for a work release program for the Sevier County Jail and a new archives facility. On Monday, commissioners will consider a resolution committing to paying $2 million toward the facility. âThe design phase is ongoing right now,â Vice Mayor Bryan McCarter said. âThe estimated cost is not to exceed $4 million.â ....
