NSAA not bringing tourneys to Watertown

The North Star Athletic Association (NSAA) basketball and volleyball championship tournaments will not be held in Watertown as previously scheduled, the Watertown Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB) announced Tuesday. CVB Executive Director Julie Knutson said she learned of the changes last week. She said the NSAA officials voted to host the championships on member campuses rather than a single site due to the COVID-19 pandemic. “The North Star Athletic Association has sincerely enjoyed having the championship tournaments in Watertown and we anticipate their return to the City of Watertown during the 2021-22 academic year,” said Roger Ternes, NSAA interim commissioner. Initial conversations between the CVB and the Ternes have been frequent and ongoing and resulted in rescheduling of the Super 6 Volleyball Championship which was to be held in Nov. 12-14, 2020. Due to the pandemic, it was rescheduled for April 9-10, 2021.
