Pierre, SD, USA / DRGNews Jul 25, 2021 | 4:39 PM BRANDON – Maguire Raske and Aaron Booth combined on a four-hit shutout and 15 strikeouts Sunday as Post 8 remained in the Class A Legion State Tournament with a 6-0 win over Harrisburg at Aspen Park. Raske gave up just three hits in five and two-thirds innings and struck out 12 for Post 8 (26-18). Booth worked the last inning and two-thirds, giving up just one hit and striking out three. Post 8 tallied three first-inning runs on an error, an RBI single by Andy Gordon and a passed ball. The Eights then scored three more in the fourth on a two-run double by Lincoln Kienholz and a passed ball. ....
Pierre, SD, USA / DRGNews Jul 24, 2021 | 10:32 PM PIERRE – Rapid City Post 22 Expos jumped out to an early lead and routed the Post 8 Junior team Saturday 13-4 in a winner’s bracket game of the Junior Class A Legion State Tournament at Hyde Stadium. Post 8 was tied 2-2 after two innings, but Post 22 scored three in the third inning and four in the fourth. Spencer Easland had two hits and an RBI for the Eights. Brecken Krueger and Cade Kaiser also drove in runs. Deegan Houska had two hits. Post 8 will play Aberdeen Sunday at noon and must win to play again later Sunday. ....
Pierre, SD, USA / DRGNews Jul 24, 2021 | 10:26 PM BRANDON – A line drive three-run home run to right field by Bennett Dean in the bottom of the eighth inning Saturday gave Post 8 a 6-3 win over Watertown in the elimination bracket of the Class A Legion State Tournament at Aspen Park. Maguire Raske doubled with one out in the Post 8 eighth. Cade Hinkle walked with two out. Dean then hit the first pitch from Watertown’s Easton Thury over the fence in right to win the game for Post 8 (25-18). All of Post 8’s runs came on home runs. Hinkle hit a three-run homer to right field in the bottom of the first before Watertown scored two in the second inning and one in the third. ....
Pierre, SD, USA / DRGNews Jul 23, 2021 | 10:09 PM PIERRE – A wild pitch by Sioux Falls West’s Jacob Mongar scored Cade Kaiser with the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning Friday as the Post 8 Juniors won 4-3 in the first round of the Junior Class A Legion State Tournament at Hyde Stadium. Kaiser walked to begin the winning rally, stole second, then scored all the way from second on the wild pitch. Earlier, Kaiser had an RBI single. Matt Brewer also drew a bases-loaded walk to drive in a run. Jackson Edman pitched a perfect seventh inning for the win. Jett Zabel worked the first six innings, allowing three runs, three hits, six strikeouts and four walks. ....
