Additional CCPA Regulations Have Been Approved

CPW and its sister blog SPB have been covering developments concerning the California Consumer Privacy Act of 2018 (“CCPA”). As we discussed the end of last year, on December 10, 2020, the California Attorney General (“AG”) proposed some modifications to the regulations implementing the CCPA (the “Regulations”). These were published in response to comments received by the AG following publication of the previous set of proposed CCPA modifications on October 12, 2020.
While the proposed modifications to the Regulations were relatively minor in substance, they provided guidance on the following issues:

APRA Free and Extended COBRA Coverage

Section 9501 of the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 (the “ARPA”)
[1] requires employers to extend offers of free COBRA coverage to certain individuals for the period from April 1, 2021 through September 30, 2021. The ARPA then provides tax credits as means of offsetting the costs of the free COBRA coverage. The law also requires employers to extend offers of COBRA coverage to other individuals whose right to COBRA coverage previously ended.

Molson Coors 'illegally' touting health attributes of its Vizzy Hard Seltzer, consumer groups say

The Food and Drug Administration should bring enforcement action against Molson Coors for illegally misleading consumers with its Vizzy Hard Seltzer labeling and advertising campaign, the Center for Science in the Public Interest and Consumer Federation of America said in a statement.
In a letter to the FDA, the consumer groups said the promotion of the alcoholic beverage s vitamin C and antioxidant content creates the impression that the drinks are healthier than other hard seltzers on the market. CSPI and CFA said Molson Coors violates FDA rules prohibiting misleading claims and goes against a 2015 agency document saying it was not appropriate for beverage companies to fortify alcoholic drinks with vitamins and minerals. ....
