Employers and the Recently Enacted American Rescue Plan Act

On March 11, 2021, the
American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 (the Rescue Plan ) was passed and signed into law. Employers should be aware of the key employment provisions of the Rescue Plan in managing their workforce and in evaluating and implementing their COVID-19 workplace policies and procedures.
Extending and Expanding the Payroll Tax Credits for Leaves Voluntarily Provided Under the Family First Coronavirus Response Act ( FFCRA )
The FFCRA required public employers and private employers with fewer than 500 employees (with limited exceptions) to provide paid leave for qualifying reasons related to COVID-19. The FFCRA s sunset date was December 31, 2020, at which time the mandate to provide leave expired. Covered private employers who provided FFCRA leave were able to claim a tax credit for the payments made during the leave, subject to per diem and total caps. ....

Virgin Australia continues to roll-out its new and fresh Lounge menu nationally, with the Canberra Lounge to offer key dishes, including a selection of sandwiches, salads, wraps and healthy snacks, prepared on site, and served from a hosted bar.

The Morrison Government is taking its investment in product stewardship to close to $15 million and will now see a million sports shoes a year diverted from landfill, 200 tonnes of golf clubs recycled as well as industrial tyres and commercial furniture.
Four new schemes join a range of organisations represented at the launch of the Product Stewardship Centre of Excellence at Parliament House on Monday night.
In just one of the newly funded schemes, a national pilot will see around 220 collection sites take in 200 tonnes of golf clubs, 10,000 basket balls and 700,000 tennis balls – usually destined for bins and landfill. ....
