Railways changes loading norms for paddy, slashes rates by 19%
The movement of paddy from northern States such as Bihar and Uttar Pradesh to the South will turn cheaper as the Indian Railways has slashed the freight rates for the commodity by up to 19 per cent by changing the loading norms. This is expected to benefit the rice exporters in terms of lower freight costs.

Rice exporters buy significant volumes of paddy from the northern states to process it in South, mainly in Andhra Pradesh for exports.
The Ministry of Railways has reduced the permissible carrying capacity of wagons effective March 12 for a period of one year till March 11, 2022. As a result, the permissible carrying capacity will now be 52 tonnes for paddy, uniform for various types of wagons against the earlier range of 59-64 tonnes. The 49th Ministerial Conference of the International Organization for Railway Cooperation (OSJD) will be held in June in South Korea. This is the first time for the Republic of Korea to host the conference, and it must be great news!
The OSJD, founded in 1956 and with its headquarters in Warsaw, is an international organization that coordinates Eurasian railways policies and oversees related railway standards with regard to passenger and freight transportation of international railways among Eurasian countries.

Considering the COVID-19 precautions and protocols, as many as 45 special train services connecting various parts of the country to Tirupati and Renigunta stations are in operation.
The government has taken measures for the convenience of pilgrims visiting Tirumala Tirupati from different parts of India. Presently, taking into account the precautions and protocols to be observed in the ongoing Covid scenario, 45 special trains (some daily) connecting various parts of the country to Tirupati and Renigunta stations are in operation, an official release said.
Apart from these, Union Railway Minister Piyush Goyal on Wednesday gave a written reply to a question by YSRCP members Goddeti Madhavi and Mithun Reddy that the IRCTC is organizing tour packages by train, road and air to visit Tirumala and Tirupati. ....

If you have any complaint about Rail Meal while travelling in train, then there is no need to worry. Railways have appointed a Food Inspector in some special trains to check the quality of food served in the train.
The information was given by Railway Minister Piyush Goyal in Lok Sabha, who said that the inspectors have been appointed. The appointments have been made in special trains including Rajdhani, Shatabdi, Duranto, Tejas and Vande Bharat trains. Apart from this, supervisors have also been appointed in mail/express trains on sectional basis. ....

New Delhi [India], March 11 (ANI): Union Railway Minister Piyush Goyal on Wednesday said that the Indian Railways has prepared a National Rail Plan (NRP) to create a future ready Railway system by 2030.
In a written reply to a question in Lok Sabha, Goyal said the NRP is aimed to formulate strategies based on both operational capacities and commercial policy initiatives to increase the modal share of the Railways in freight to 45 per cent. ....
