New omicron variant detected in 57 countries: WHO

GENEVA - The new omicron variant of the coronavirus has been detected in 57 countries so far, the World Health Organization (WHO) said on Wednesday. MANILA - The Covid-19 situation in the National Capital Region (NCR) continues to improve based on the latest data of the OCTA Research Group. In a tweet on Monday, OCTA Research Group's Guido David said NCR's seven-day average is 1,448 with a positivity rate of 9 percent, down by 1 percent from the previous data. "The last time the positivity rate was at 9 percent was from July 23 to July 29," David tweeted. Daily Covid-19 cases may drop to 5K by end of October: OCTA

MANILA - The OCTA Research Group on Sunday said the number of daily Covid-19 cases may drop to 5,000 to 6,000 by the end of October. In a television interview, OCTA fellow Guido David also said that within the week, daily new cases may reach 10,000 because of the backlog.
