The system has the potential to foresee an annual increase in the salary of the Central government employees. In other words, the matrix can give an idea about progression in the salary of employees at that particular level. As many as 52 lakh central government employees will be covered under this Pay Matrix. The Pay Commission is set up by the Centre to review the salary structure of its employees every 10 years. The announcement was made for the first time since the BJP-IPFT government came to power in the state in 2018. The government will spend an additional amount of Rs 320 crore in the next fiscal for the three per cent increase in DA and dearness relief (DR) for its employees and pensioners, Law Minister and the government's spokesperson Ratan Lal Nath said on Thursday.

According to reports, the Centre has decided to increased dearness allowance (DA) by 4 percent. If the reports come true then it means that the DA of employees of Central government will increase from 17 percent to 21 percent.
