Steve Stark, MGM TV Executive Who Championed 'Handmaid's Tale,' Exits for Producing Deal (EXCLUSIVE)

Longtime MGM Television executive Steve Stark, who championed the studio’s Emmy-winning drama “The Handmaid’s Tale,” is leaving his executive post and transitioning to a producing deal with the studio.
Just over a year ago, Stark was named president of the newly formed MGM/UA Television label and extended his deal with the studio. He had previously served as MGM’s head of scripted television production and development, overseeing all scripted content from concept to production and leading development of new projects. Stark’s segue to a producing role at a time of massive transition for the content business — and persistent sale rumors around MGM — is no surprise. It’s said to have been under discussion for some time.

Dakota, Elle Fanning Launch Production Company, Sign First Look Deal With Civic Center Media and MRC TV

Dakota and Elle Fanning have formed their own production company, Lewellen Pictures. In addition, the sisters have signed a first look TV deal with Civic Center Media in affiliation with MRC Television.
The deal furthers Elle’s relationship with Civic Center and MRC, as she currently stars in and executive produces the Hulu series “The Great,” which the companies produce.

Lewellen Pictures will develop both feature film and television projects, as well as other media including podcasts. Their first project under the first look deal will be a series adaptation of the Megan Miranda novel “The Last House.” Sarah Walker is attached to write and executive produce the show, which is described as a crime thriller about an intimate friendship between two girls who fall violently in love with each other’s differences, which, in the end, create doubt, betrayal and tragedy. The Fannings will executive produce alongside Brittany Kahan Ward and Mary Jane Skalski for Echo Lake Entertainment.

Sioban Sinnerton, executive producer of Oscar-nominated and BAFTA, Emmy and Cannes-winning documentary “For Sama,” has joined Hillary Clinton, Sam Branson and Chelsea Clinton’s production outfit HiddenLight Productions.
Sinnerton will take on the newly created role of creative director and senior VP unscripted, and will report into CEO Johnny Webb. She joins from U.K. broadcaster Channel 4 where she was commissioning editor, news and current affairs and immersive content. At HiddenLight, she will be responsible for growing the company’s slate of premium unscripted content globally.
