Area Man Rescued from Being Pinned Under a Fork Lift A West Union man was hospitalized over the weekend, from an accident involving a fork lift. At about 1pm Saturday, the Fayette County Sheriff received a report of an accident at a residence on Nature Road near St. Lucas. An investigation determined that 57 year old Glen Yost of West Union was using a fork lift to move equipment on an icy driveway. The fork lift tipped onto it's side, pinning Yost's leg. Yost was freed by emergency workers. He was airlifted by Gunderson Air to an area hospital for treatment. There was no word on his condition.

Martin-Grau Funeral Home in Waukon is handling arrangements. -- A West Union woman, 87 year old Imelda Schmitt, died Tuesday. Visitation is Sunday from 1-4 PM, with a 12:30 PM rosary and 3:30 PM scripture service, at Burnham-Wood-Grau Funeral Home in West Union. Services are Monday at 11:00 AM at Holy Name Catholic Church in West Union. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, also in West Union. Burnham-Wood-Grau Funeral Home is assisting the family.
