After a disastrous start to my E30 project car's first road trip, my sideways dreams come to life.
Last summer I bought a 1988 BMW 325iX coupe to take ice racing for the 2020-2021 winter season. If you’ve been following along with my periodic updates>>>P, you’ll know I fixed up a bunch of stuff with the car and finally got it on the road>>>P. While it wasn’t perfect, it was ready to race.
Research
Of course, not everything goes as planned. The Adirondack Motor Enthusiast Club, the sanctioning body for the ice racing I planned to participate in, has yet to find a suitable lake to race on in upstate New York. So instead of letting the car sit for yet another weekend, I took a trip to western Maine to participate in some frozen lake open-lapping sessions. The trip was a rollercoaster, highs and lows packed into three long days.
