âJackson Pollock started the abstract art way back then. Pollock inspired (splatter) art,â said Steffany. In the 1940s, Pollock created what was referred to as âdrip styleâ art where he splattered paint, reports the webpage guggenheim.org. âPollockâs drips, also called âaction paintingsâ revolutionized the potential for contemporary art and furthered the development of Abstract Expressionism,â it reported.
