He said: “Washington Consensus is not even implemented in Washington and the idea of free market without government regulation is buried.” This gives the impression that the Washington Consensus is a failed idea and has not worked in supporting economic growth and prosperity. Pakistan needs to grow at 7-9% for 30 years to reduce public debt and create jobs by bringing a radical shift in functioning of the state and redefining the government role as a facilitator, says a new reform agenda released on Thursday.
