These hopeful signs have helped to improve the well-being of nursing home residents across Ohio, who ve spent most of the past year in lockdown.
“Hope is the biggest thing you can see,” said Chad A. Giauque, the executive director of Altercare Majora Lane in Millersburg.
Giauque and his staff already had seen spirits lifted with the return of indoor visitation. The arrival of the vaccine earlier this year added to higher hopes for residents who have had very limited contact with the outside world since the onset of the coronavirus pandemic.
“Visitation, we’ve seen it make a tremendous difference in people … . Folks not doing well and they’ve turned around quite a bit. That’s a lot of hope,” Giauque said. ....
