Vivian Stanshall has an indisputable place among the Great English Eccentrics. I first met him at St. Martins School Of Art. He was part of the ban-the-bomb-bird raver subculture of trad jazz and Victoriana. The dumb commercial end was Acker Bilk; the Temperance Seven were smarter, but still a commercial novelty.
