Rise up to Your Constitutional Duties, CSOs Tell Buhari, Govs

No fewer than 128 civil society organisations (CSOs) under the aegis of Joint Action Civil Society Coalition/Nigerian Mourns Sunday said almost 2,000 fatalities were recorded between January and March due to the rising spate of armed attacks, banditry and insurgencies across the federation.
With these increasing atrocious incidents nationwide, the coalition challenged President Muhammadu Buhari and 36 state governors to rise up to their constitutional duties and put an end to Insecurity as enshrined in section 14(2)(b) of the 1999 Constitution to ensure the security and welfare of all Nigerians.
This was revealed in a statement issued by the coalition Sunday, calling on all Nigerians to register their displeasure with the state of affairs across the country by participating in a series of mass actions from May 26.
