The 26th Annual Polar Fest Plunge to benefit the Boys & Girls Club of Detroit Lakes is set for 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 26 on the ice of Little Detroit Lake. The club is seeking 150 'plungers' — a nod to the city's year-long Sesquicentennial festivities, which will come to a close with February's Polar Fest — to sign up for the Plunge, with each required to raise a minimum of $50 in pledges to participate.

Manufacturing companies paid out about $1.5 billion in total payroll in the region last year, with average annual wages of just under $55,000.

The Detroit Lakes Regional Chamber of Commerce held an economic development summit at the Historic Holmes Theatre on May 7 and followed it up with their annual meeting to connect their members at the Holiday Inn on May 12.
