Media release: Edinburgh’s Electric Cycle Company has been super-charged
THE Electric Cycle Company (ECC), Edinburgh, has just opened its new 4,000 square foot, state-of-the-art electric bike store and workshop on Crewe Road North. It is believed the move makes it the largest specialist e-bike shop in the UK.
Over four times the size of their previous shop, ECC have created a completely safe and welcoming retail environment with enough space to display a much larger selection of both new and established electric bike brands, quality cycle clothing, and e-bike accessories, alongside a bespoke e-bike maintenance workshop.
Following an extensive but challenging renovation project during the Covid-19 pandemic, the new shop is considered a different type of retail experience. Customers can easily walk around the store while remaining physically-distanced.

Scottish Government allocates £22 million for permanent active travel schemes | Highlight


Over £22 million has been awarded to three permanent active travel schemes in Ayr, Hawick and Broughty Ferry.
The money has been provided by the Scottish Government and allocated through the Sustrans Places for Everyone initiative. When complete, the projects will make it easier for people to walk, wheel and cycle for everyday journeys by reallocating road space in favour of sustainable active travel modes.
As outlined in the Programme for Government, the Scottish Government has committed to investing over £500 million in active travel across the next five years. More permanent projects, including smaller schemes, will be progressed through the Sustrans Places for Everyone programme, in line with the vision of a more sustainable transport system as outlined in the National Transport Strategy.

Steering Scotland’s pathway to net zero

Roadmap to world-leading climate change targets published.
More than 100 new policies and proposals to support Scotland’s green recovery and help deliver a just transition to net zero have been launched.
They form part of the Climate Change Plan 2018 – 2032, which has been updated to reflect the world’s most ambitious framework of climate targets as enshrined in Scotland’s Climate Change Act 2019.
The Plan, which also increases the ambition of more than 40 other policies to cut greenhouse gas emissions across all sectors, includes:
the launch of a £180 million Emerging Energy Technologies Fund (EETF), that, over the next 5 years, will support the development of Scottish hydrogen and Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) industries, and support the development of Negative Emissions Technologies (NETs)
