Uniindia: New Delhi, Nov 5 (UNI) Edible oil prices have fallen in the range of Rs 5-20 per kg across the country on the back of various measures taken by the government to calm down the prices of the key kitchen item in the festive season, data collected by the department of food and public distribution show.
After petrol and diesel, prices of edible oils, barring mustard oil, have started softening across the country after the government waived basic import duty on crude palm oil, soya bean oil, and crude sunflower oil from 2.5 per cent earlier in a bid to reign in the continuous rise in the cooking oil prices since the past one year.
Retail prices of edible oil have declined quite significantly due to a number of steps taken by the Centre, said a government official.
