Vernon Hills Park District Offsets Electrical Costs Using


DAVIDSON, N.C. and VERNON HILLS, Ill., May 11, 2021 /3BL Media/ – Vernon Hills Park District, in collaboration with Trane® by Trane Technologies, a global climate innovator, has installed a rooftop solar array at its maintenance facility that produces enough energy to offset 70% of the building’s annual electric usage.
The facility runs entirely on electrical power without the use of natural gas and has maintained a 15% reduction in electrical costs for the last four years. The solar installation provides 122kW of energy and is projected to lower the Park District’s costs by another 5%, reaching a total reduction of 20%.  
“Investing in renewable energy benefits both the Park District’s facilities and the environment,” said James Kim, Superintendent of Parks, Vernon Hills Park District. “By partnering with Trane to shift our maintenance facility to renewable, solar energy, we are on track to exceed our sustainability goals while saving taxpayers money.” ....

Solar farm will save Kendall County, Illinois $160,000 per year


“Kendall County is continually looking for ways to reduce our operating costs. This will save County taxpayers over $4 million dollars.  When Progressive Business Solutions presented a program that allowed us to reduce our costs without any capital investment, we decided it was a good fit for Kendall County and its residents,” said Scott Gryder, Chairman of the Kendall County Board.

Project Funding and Development: Funds were made available in 2019 and 2020 from the Adjustable Block Program (ABP) under the Future Energy Jobs Act (FEJA), passed in December of 2016. Area residents, businesses, governmental organizations and non-profits all pay into a renewable energy fund, which is collected on each customer’s monthly ComEd bill. The available funds were highly competitive in that less than 30% of the applications submitted received approval. ....
