DURHAM – The number of active COVID-19 cases in town has “inexplicably and unexpectedly” jumped during the last several days. Town Administrator Todd Selig told the Town Council the number of positive tests in Durham “peaked at 142 cases” two weeks after Halloween. “This is after people got together for the Halloween holidays,” Selig said during the council meeting Tuesday night. University of New Hampshire students left campus as planned on Nov. 20. That was followed by “a nice low” period of positive COVID tests between Dec. 2 and Dec. 17, Selig said. “Then on the 18th and 19th, the number of cases inexplicably and unexpectedly jumped to 122 cases,” Selig said.
Durham dog owner: Pets aren't 'out of control' at Wagon Hill Farm DURHAM — Police had to turn away 30 to 40 cars over the weekend from entering Wagon Hill Farm “because the parking lot was overcrowded,” Town Administrator Todd Selig said. The town-owned farm was a popular location for both sledders and dog owners over the weekend, Selig said, drawing the overflow crowd. Police assigned one officer to the farm on Sunday to deal with complaints town officials have been receiving about dogs being off leash during hours when leashes are required, dogs fighting and general overcrowding. Police determined one officer on duty at Wagon Hill Farm on the weekends was “not sufficient,” Selig said.
