After Maharashtra, Delhi restricts e-commerce sales to essentials | India News

BENGALURU: After Maharashtra, the Delhi government has said it will allow e-commerce for sale of essential goods only during its one-week lockdown.
This strategy by state governments has been criticised by e-tailers on the ground that the definition of essentials changes fast when one is told to stay indoors. They said it doesn’t help if consumers working from home are allowed to buy only groceries online.
Groceries, medicines and food are considered essentials. The order from Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) says it will allow the movement of people engaged only in “delivery of essential goods including food, pharmaceuticals, medical equipment through e-commerce."
