Bunker schools fuel blitzes from stripers and bluefish, schools of albies and bonito pop up sporadically, and bottom fishing brings plenty of jumbo scup and sea bass.
Albies arrive in the Long Island Sound, trophy stripers hit live baits around local reefs, and sea bass, fluke and porgies keep bottom fishermen busy.
More bunker flood the Sound with gator bluefish in tow, fluke fishing is productive around 40 feet, and stripers hit topwater plugs and flutter spoons around bunker schools.
Stripers in the 40-inch class hang with twenty-pound bluefish around the central L.I. Sound, where there's also great bottom fishing for sea bass and scup.
Keeper fluke hit the deck on sea bass grounds, and big stripers follow bunker through the Long Island Sound for lights-out bass fishing.
