A Cedar County judge delayed a decision on the closure of Agape Boarding School, the Stockton-based reform school facing abuse allegations.
Judge David Munton initially ordered Agape be shut down last week at the request of the state Attorney General and Department of Social Services. The state’s petition claimed that an Agape staff member had been placed on Missouri’s child abuse and neglect central registry for physically abusing a student.
There is also a push to shut down the reform school, based in Missouri, as child abuse cases have been piling up. The boy was detained there for eight days.
The suit accuses Smock of battery, intentional infliction of emotional distress, negligent infliction of emotional distress and childhood sexual abuse
The report, uncovered during a lawsuit, contradicts Agape Boarding School's previous statements that restraint is not used for more than a few minutes.
