Clogged waterways contribute to urban flooding

UNCOLLECTED and improperly dumped garbage that clogged the drainage system and canals, siltation, and structures built above waterways have contributed to severe flooding in the city on April 10, the City Engineer s Office (CEO) reported.
CEO head Joseph Dominic Felizarta said based on their assessment, with the reports from the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO), the heavy rain carried the uncollected garbage during that time.

Editorial: Targeted testing in Davao City

THE city government of Davao is implementing a targeted testing strategy in a bid to detecct Covid-19 cases and prevent a clustering of cases.
Recently, the city government issued two executive orders (EO) strengthening the testing strategies of Davao City.
On March 26, 2021, Davao City Mayor Sara Z. Duterte-Carpio issued EO 18, heightening the surveillance and response of Covid-19 cases in the city.
Under EO 18, the city will put up swabbing corners in all district health centers to swab those with influenza-like illness (ILI). If the person with ILI tests positive for Sars-CoV-2, the virus causing the Covid-19, their close contacts will also be swabbed for testing if they develop signs and symptoms of ILI or Covid-19. ....

9 test positive for COVID in Davao City market testing

DAVAO CITY – Eight vendors and one health worker tested positive for COVID-19 during “surveillance testing” at the Agdao Public Market where around 300 individuals had been subjected to reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) test last week, Mayor Sara Duterte here said Monday.
Hundreds of vendors in Agdao Market, Davao City undergo Covid- 19 tests as part of the local government’s “surveillance swabbing.” The “surveillance swabbing,” which will also be conducted in “high-risk” areas of the city, also aims to jack up the daily tests from 600 to 1,000 daily to capture individuals who are positive of Covid-19.(Keith Bacongco / MANILA BULLETIN) ....
