In light of the continuous looting at Agdao Public Market in Davao City, the Davao City Police Office (DCPO) has strengthened its monitoring in order to identify and arrest the robbers. According to Sta. Ana Police deputy station commander Police Capt. Rizalito Clapiz III, they will be conducting strict intelligence monitoring to catch those responsible for the looting activities in Agdao market. This comes after Rico Espragoza Gomez, grandson of an old sidewalk vendor named Ernesto Catienza Gomez Sr., posted on social media about the incident that happened to his grandfather. The DCPO has requested the sidewalk vendors in the area not to leave important items, especially money, in their boxes in their stalls. ....
The Davao City Water District (DCWD) announced that their Facebook page is at risk of being taken down due to “mass reporting”. In a statement, DCWD said they had been notified by Meta that their page was being mass-reported. However, in a separate statement, Duhaylungsod clarified that the supposed Meta notification has “a high possibility” that it is not true, according to their information technology (IT) team. Nevertheless, the spokesperson said they are preparing to create and transfer to a new Facebook page. ....
The Department of Social Welfare and Development-Davao Region (DSWD-Davao) is coordinating with neighboring municipalities to address the presence of Indigenous Peoples (IPs) engaged in begging in Davao City, according to DSWD-Davao officials.
DSWD Social Technology Unit-Social Welfare Officer 2 Crystal Mae Econ said that she visited Talaingod and Kapalong to liaise with local officials and understand why IPs were coming to the city.
Econ said that Davao City notified the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Kapalong about the rising number of IPs from their jurisdiction begging on the city's streets. However, during a rescue operation, they were unable to locate any IP members. As a result, they requested DSWD to establish a master list of IPs to verify their origin, ensuring more successful operations in the future.
Meanwhile, the municipality of Sta. Cruz, Davao del Norte expressed willingness to rescue members of the Badjao tribe begging in Toril, Davao City, on ....
