Financial Assistance to Planters - Torrential Rainfall


Following the torrential rainfall recorded during the month of April this year, a loss assessment exercise was carried out by officers of the Agricultural Services of the Ministry of Agro-Industry and Food Security, the Food and Agricultural Research and Extension Institute
(FAREI) and the Small Farmers Welfare Fund (SFWF).
In view of the unprecedented rainfall, Government has approved a payment of Rs 2,000 under the Agricultural Calamities Solidarity Scheme (ACASS) as well as a one- off financial assistance of Rs 4,000 per arpent, that is, a total of Rs 6, 000 per arpent to registered planters whose fields have encountered damages of 50% or more. ....

C’est le montant de l’aide que les planteurs vont recevoir de la Small Farmers Welfare Fund sous le Agricultural Calamities Solidarity Scheme pour les dégâts des épisodes pluvieux du mois de Mars 2021 et à partir du 16 avril 2021 ainsi qu’un one-off compensation de Rs4,000.00 par arpent
Cabinet has agreed to the Small Farmers Welfare Fund providing financial assistance of Rs2,000 per arpent in favour of planters, under the Agricultural Calamities Solidarity Scheme, who have suffered losses following the torrential rainfall which occurred in March 2021 and as from 16 April 2021.
In addition, a one-off compensation of Rs4,000 per arpent would be granted to planters in order to provide better support to planters in restarting their plantations, taking into consideration the factors of production that would be required immediately namely seeds, land preparation and fertilisers. ....
