BANGKOK (ElevenMedia Group/ANN): The Thai government plans to issue documents to undocumented Myanmar workers for permanent residency, Ye Min from the Aid Alliance Committee in Thailand said on Wednesday (Jan 20).
“The Thai government plans to issue documents to undocumented Myanmar workers who have no permanent residency in Thailand. But the price is very high. We urge the Thai authorities to reduce the cost, ” said Ye Min.
Thai authorities placed a lockdown again in Mahachai on Jan 4 as there has been a renewed outbreak of Covid-19. ....

Thousands of Cambodian migrant laborers are returning home from Thailand following a second outbreak of the deadly virus there over the past week, and aid groups are warning of food shortages among long jobless workers, the migrants and supporters told RFA.
From April to mid-December, Thailand was reporting daily confirmed cases in the single and low double digits. But in late December, daily totals spiked into the mid to high hundreds, reaching a high of 844 on Monday according to WHO statistics. ....
