A report by Aid Worker Security Database has said 461 aid workers were victims of major attacks in 2021. Aid workers work for charitable organisations devoted to helping others, often internationally or in conflict zones. According to the report, 141 aide workers were killed, 203 were wounded and 117 were kidnapped in countries. The report said there were more lethal attacks on aid workers in 2021 than in the previous two years. The number of aid workers killed in 2021 – 141 – is the highest number of fatalities since 2013.
