Melissa McCarthy and Barbra Streisand in 2016; Kevin Mazur/Getty Images for BSBWhile she was around when it was invented, Barbra Streisand still doesn't seem to understand how social media works. After being dragged online for a seemingly insensitive comment she made on a friend's post, she's now apologizing. On April 29, actress Melissa McCarthy posted a couple of photos on Instagram of herself at an event with director Adam Shankman. Streisand responded by commenting, "Give him my regards did you take Ozempic?" She later deleted the comment, but not before it was captured by the Comments by Celebs account and captioned, "Babs!!"One user responded, "Omg Babs, you can’t just ask people if they’re on Ozempic." Another addressed the legendary singer directly: "you’re such a boomer. I cringed reading your question."Another user wrote, "Maybe STFU and keep these thoughts in your own head? It’s none of your business unless someone wants to share. My god. And as a woman in the industry completely judged for her looks, you think Babs would have some empathy."On April 30, Streisand posted an explanation of what many saw as a brutal comment."OMG - I went on Instagram to see the photos we'd posted of the beautiful flowers I'd received for my birthday!  Below them was a photo of my friend Melissa McCarthy who I sang with on my Encore album.""She looked fantastic! I just wanted to pay her a compliment," she continued. "I forgot the world is reading!"But McCarthy doesn't seem to bothered. Asked by a TMZ photographer what she thought of Babs' Ozempic comment, the Bridesmaids star said, "I think Barbra is a treasure and I love her."Copyright © 2024, ABC Audio. All rights reserved.

Cindy Ord/Getty Images for TIMEDua Lipa has made the list of TIME's 100 Most Influential People in the World for 2024. She headlined the TIME 100 Gala on April 25 in New York City, which was recorded for an ABC TV special airing May 12. On the red carpet, she told TIME about her upcoming stint hosting and serving as the musical guest on Saturday Night Live on May 4."I'm so excited. I'm really, really looking forward to it. I'm just going to throw myself into what could quite possibly be the maddest experience of my life and just have fun with it," she said of the appearance, which comes a day after she releases her new album, Radical Optimism.Asked if she'd asked any comedians for tips ahead of the gig, Dua said, "I did. I hung out with Bowen Yang for a bit, so I was like, picking his brain a little before I get into, into all the madness."The last time she appeared on Saturday Night Live was back in 2020. Since then, she's had some acting experience: a cameo in Barbie and a more substantial part in the comedy spy movie Argylle.Dua wore a sheer Chanel gown to the TIME 100 Gala, which she attended with her reported boyfriend, British actor Callum Turner. She performed a handful of songs, including "Illusion" and "Training Season."In other Dua news, she's offering a unique piece of merch to go with her new album: a replica of the notebook in which she wrote 97 songs for the project. The $30 keepsake includes scanned pages of handwritten lyrics from Dua's notebook, as well as photo collages and blank pages, the album itself and a hand-signed art card.Copyright © 2024, ABC Audio. Beth GarrabrantTaylor Swift's The Tortured Poets Department had already broken many records on its way to what was a certain #1 debut on the Billboard 200 album chart.  Now it's accomplished that -- and racked up the highest sales week in nine years. The album takes the top spot on the chart with 2.61 million equivalent album units earned. That's the largest amount of equivalent album units since 2015, when Adele blasted in with 3.482 million units of her album 25.Of those 2.61 million units, 1.914 million copies came from traditional album sales, meaning digital downloads, CDs, vinyl and cassettes, as opposed to streaming. That gives Tortured Poets the third-largest sales week in the modern era, which Billboard dates to 1991, the beginning of electronic sales tracking. The only two albums that have sold more in a single week are Adele's 25, with 3.378 million, and *NSYNC's No Strings Attached, with 2.416 million. What's more, Taylor now ties Jay-Z for the solo artist with the most #1 albums on the Billboard 200 chart: Both have 14. Only The Beatles have more, with 19. Taylor responded to the massive numbers by writing on Instagram, "My mind is blown. I’m completely floored by the love you’ve shown this album. 2.6 million ARE YOU ACTUALLY SERIOUS?? Thank you for listening, streaming, and welcoming Tortured Poets into your life. Feeling completely overwhelmed. I was already so fired up to get back to the tour but you doing THIS?? May 9th can’t come soon enough."And speaking of the tour, on April 27, she and her boyfriend Travis Kelce attended Patrick Mahomes' Golf Classic charity gala, and while there, Travis announced that his "significant other" had decided to donate four tickets to the Eras Tour to be auctioned off. People reports that those tickets brought in $80,000.Copyright © 2024, ABC Audio. All rights reserved.
