How to pivot during a pandemic, Kiwi style
Peng has been dressing brides between New Zealand and the US for almost a decade but it wasn’t until March last year that she decided to open a flagship store in Auckland. That’s right, March 2020. “We’d just opened the doors and then it was like OK, lockdown. I’d just hired a manager, we had a new team and a new store and we couldn’t even open.” But life’s a funny old thing. “Somehow 2020 ended up being our best year ever,” says Peng. That’s probably because even though most people called off their 2020 weddings, they didn’t always cancel the dress.
