An Inishowen Councillor is seeking an urgent meeting with the Housing Minister to discuss ongoing concerns over the Mica redress scheme. Issues for Mica affected homeowners in Donegal in accessing the scheme have been repeatedly highlighted locally and nationally. After a lengthy campaign, the announcement of the scheme was widely welcomed but a number of what Councillor Albert Doherty termed as deficiencies have since emerged. He is hoping the Minister will take action now as cross-party pressure mounts:

Grant Thornton’s ‘Responding to Brexit’ document was presented to elected members at their latest March meeting of full council. It received a mixed reaction from councillors with Inishowen’s Nicholas Crossan describing it as “disappointing”. The Cathaoirleah of the Inishowen Municipal District has described the Covid-19 vaccine rollout north of the peninsula as 'dire'. North Inishowen is facing yet another setback due to supply problems with surgeries in Carndonagh told yesterday that they won't be getting any more vaccines until the end of March. It has led to fears locally over possible delays to other cohorts. Councillor Albert Doherty has contacted the HSE directly in regards to the issue:

It's been confirmed that Carndonagh Garda Station will be included in a new capital budget plan. Details are expected to be released in the coming weeks but the station is set to be included on the Garda Building and Refurbishment Programme 2022-2028. The current station had previously been deemed unfit for purpose by Chief Superintendent Terry McGinn back in 2018 while there has also been on-going health, safety and security concerns.
