Starting at 7am today, part of the Fairfield Memorial Hospital's main parking lot, to include the entrance into the main lobby of the hospital will be closed until approximately Noon. Drop offs and picks up will be at the Surgical Pavilion. This closure is due to a crane that will be moving in the new AC equipment as part of the Phase II renovations. There will be periods of time starting at 10am when they will be moving heavy duty equipment overhead and no staff or visitors will be permitted in certain areas of the main part of the hospital due to safety concerns. During these times FMH Security Staff will help guide visitors and staff. The Fairfield City Council met last night with all members present. The council approved 3 TIF Redevelopment Agreements. They include Farmers Daughter for $50,000. The business will be undertaking a complete renovation to the first floor and exterior work as well. Country Roads Realty for $5,500. Petitions for the Consolidated Election to be held on April 4, 2023, are now available in the office of City Clerk Tina Hutchcraft. A Mayor will be elected for a two-year term to fill the unexpired term of Mayor Mike Dreith, and one alderman from each of the city's four wards will be elected for a four-year term. Petition circulation began on September 20th. Filing period for petitions is December 12th through December 19th. The City Clerk's Office hours are 7am to noon and 1pm to 4pm Monday through Friday. The Wayne County Historical Society monthly meeting will be tonight at 6 in the Fairfield Library meeting room. A short business meeting will be followed by a discussion with Judith Puckett of the Local Landmarks Project and Country Churches Project. Members and guest are welcome. Calhoun County Pauses Use of Johnson & Johnson Vaccine COVID-19 vaccinations will still be offered at a walk-in clinic today at Albion College, but it won’t be the single shot Johnson and Johnson vaccine. The Calhoun County Public Health Department (CCPHD) has paused the use of Johnson & Johnson’s single-dose COVID-19 vaccine based on the Food and Drug Administration s and CDC s recommendation. Officials say they’ll be using the Pfizer vaccine during today s (April 13 th) Albion Clinic at Albion College’s Dow Center. The department says they won’t use the Johnson and Johnson vaccine until further information is available. ....
