Nearly 60% of Shirley Miller Scholarships Awarded to Georgia Southern University Students January 12, 2021 The Zell Miller Foundation recently announced it awarded $50,000 in Shirley Miller Scholarships for the Spring 2021 semester to 127 HOPE Scholars at 13 public colleges and universities across Georgia. Of those 127 scholarships, 73 of them were awarded to Georgia Southern students, the most of any institution. Monica Kearse “The HOPE and Shirley Miller Scholarships have helped me, not only with my tuition, but also with my life overall,” said Monica Kearse, senior multimedia film and production major. “Without them, I would not be in college.” The Shirley Miller Scholarship provides HOPE Scholars a supplement that pays the difference between their HOPE award and the cost of tuition. The scholarship is named in honor of former Georgia First Lady Shirley Miller in recognition of her lifelong contributions to education. ....
