April 9 – Manama, Bahrain: Ali Monfaradi becomes the first Bahraini athlete to win a medal at the Abu Dhabi World Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship 2021. The event was held in Abu Dhabi on April 9 and saw Monfaradi bag a silver medal in the competitive Adults Black Belt category. Monfaradi’s historic achievement has resulted in his official ranking to increase, making him the Number 1 ranked Jiu-Jitsu athlete in Asia, according to the UAEJJF’s annual list – a first ever feat for any Middle Eastern professional athlete.
