PANAMA CITY BEACH — A Vernon man who died while rescuing a drowning child last year has posthumously received the nation's highest medal of honor for heroism by a civilian. The Carnegie Hero Fund Commission announced last week that Stacey Redmon, who was 48 years old at the time of the rescue, was named one of 17 recipients for the Carnegie Medal.
